Duskfade Boss Guide: Guayota, Sadness and Father Gaoth

Duskfade boss breakdown built from first-hand gameplay capture: positioning, attack telegraphs, damage windows, and the mistakes that end a run.

The rule that covers all three fights

Every boss tells you what it is about to do.

Pink circles on the floor, a hand moving a certain way, a ring of electricity. See the tell, move first.

The damage window only opens after the tell finishes, and it is short.

  • Guayota: work the sides, never the front. When the lava rises, get on the platforms and grapple around the ring to drain it.
  • Sadness: dodge the bubbles, dodge the spin. She gets dizzy after spinning, so get close and hit her. In the bubble phase you break the clocks, one, then two, then three.
  • Father Gaoth: watch his hand. An open hand is your window. The electric ring lands where you are running, so dodge the other way.

This is not a full boss list

The studio has never published a boss list.

You can find several “all bosses” pages online. Their sources are not transparent, so we do not build on them.

We only document fights we can watch and reproduce, with the name confirmed by at least two independent sources. Anything below that bar stays out.

Guayota

Where to stand: circle him, always on the sides. Hitting the front barely works.

Tells:

  • Pink circles on the floor mean stomps. Leave the circle.
  • A big pink ring is a wide attack. Roll backwards.

Damage window: after he crashes into a wall, run to his side or back and hit him.

Lava phase:

  1. He walks to the middle of the arena and the lava starts rising.
  2. Platforms rise with it. Get on one.
  3. Grapple around the arena and switch off each device.
  4. The lava drains. There are fewer devices each time: three, then two, then one.

Later on: the arena edges also spawn lava. Do not chase damage here. Stay alive.

What usually kills you: standing in front of him, and panicking in the lava phase.

Sadness

Tells: pink and purple bubbles drop from above. Keep moving. Standing still means getting hit.

Damage window one: after her spin attack she gets dizzy. Hit her up close. If you have to run to her, the window is already gone.

Damage window two: when she drops out of a bubble, land next to her and combo immediately.

Bubble phase:

  1. She wraps herself in a bubble.
  2. Bounce off the bubble, grapple up to the platform, break the clocks.
  3. One clock becomes two, then three. The platforms have healing pickups. Grab them.

Time pressure: the longer this phase runs, the more chances she has to drain your health. Break the clocks fast.

What usually kills you: not being close enough when she is dizzy, and dragging out the bubble phase.

Father Gaoth

Watch his hand:

  • Weapon pulled back: overhead slam. Dodge left or right.
  • Weapon into the ground: rings of fire. Run towards him and avoid the rings.
  • Hand open: this is your damage window.

The gold hands come in three flavours:

The handWhat to do
Fist slamming downDodge sideways, then hit him
SwipeMove away and wait for it to stop
“Peace sign”Jump over it

The electric ring lands where you are running. Dodge the opposite way at the last moment. Do not follow habit.

Platform phases: between phases you cross rails and small platforms, with healing pickups on the way. You can hit the hands on the platforms, but the damage is low, so clearing the phase is the better trade.

Phases: four in total. The platform gets smaller and the attacks get messier while staying the same. Do not fall off on the last one.

What usually kills you: dodging the electric ring the way you always dodge, and falling off in phase four.

Other bosses the community names

These names show up in player videos and community sites. We only have the name, not a capturable record, so we do not document the fight:

NameWhat we have
DespairA Steam achievement is literally “We’re coming for you, Despair”, so the name is solid. No captioned fight footage found
WatcherA video title and a community site. No captions
Wrath, Guilt, Solitude, Anchored WilhelmVideo titles or a single community site only. Not enough

Community sites publish a nine-fight order. They label it as their own assessment rather than an official rating, and several look-alike domains carry near-identical text, so we do not treat them as independent. That is why this page has no order table.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a complete boss list?

No. It covers the three fights with a record we can follow.

What is the boss order?

The studio has not published one. Community sites have an order, but the sourcing is not independent enough for us to repeat it.

Do these strategies still work?

The studio has published no patch notes, and the 24 August 2026 build came with no notes. All three records are from the release version and describe the September 2026 fights.

Why only one creator?

The fights themselves are first-hand footage and can be reproduced. Names and rosters need more than one source, and anything that fails that check stays out.
